Who the hell am I?

My name is Do Dang Thuong, but for short, just call me Thom. And who I am? Okie, people used to call me superhero but gosh, I'm just simply superman, not a superhero anymore.

Superman here is not the stupid commercial guy (on TV show) with a red cloak, blue clothes and red underwear who can fly from here to there to rescue people blah blah blah. Me - simply a guy can be superb if you believe.

I graduated from Lasalle Singapore with the BA (hons) in Graphic Design and a Diploma in Communication Design but for what? The crazy papers (with a frame and hung on the wall to be dusty) just show my luck (that I had a chance to finish a high education abroad) and my parents' need. People, just look my works below and judge, forget all about my certificates.

Blah blah blah, I think it's enough.

Yay, we (The Unknown Rebels) with our first short clip (The Journey Unknown) will join the FUTURESHORTS film festival 2009 in HCMC on 22nd of August (Saturday).

On 22nd August 2009 Future Shorts will screen a programme of short film specially selected for their first screening in Vietnam.

Come and join us in a miniature cinema in the middle of Saigon’s favourite dOSe Party. Local film makers will show their work alongside films from all over the world including countries such as Japan, England, France and Isreal.

The Unknown Rebels was early known as Amigo in 2007. The Unknown Rebels is a project of Do Dang Thuong and Pham Duy Thanh Phong combining electro/ experimental rock and animation/ stop motion video. Inspired by 65daysofstatic, Múm and some more, The Unknown Rebels is not limited by any kinds of genres but improved in many different independent styles.

The Unknown Rebels is an open project based on the spirit of independent creativeness and the usage of simple materials to create messages. "Small things can create big ideas"

The Unknown Rebels is not just a music band, Do Dang Thuong and Pham Duy Thanh Phong are not rockers (or some shit like that), they are just 2 people who have inspirations and indulgence in creating artworks combining the sight and the hearing (music and video are the main theme and main foundation) - we are the unknowns. With an idea of making something funny and using up the waste/ superfluous materials, we're trying to create a new imaginary world...

Hey man, nothing is impossible! We just have a bad-condition guitar, an almost-broken cable with a laptop to record the track and paper that can see around da house with some craft making. Then we have a short video clip. Forget about money problems. Haha.

The Core - The book of minimalism

The project was done in 2008 as the final project for level 2 (diploma) at Lasalle. "The core" is the book inspired by the Swiss style based on the theory of Wim Crouwel the designer.

The Core is a concept about the main elements in every minimalism design and this book shows different minimalism designs in different arts (music, design, photography) and explains the theory with clearly examples.

"The end of the world" (the title inspired by Blackfield band) is an illustration booklet represents the style of the artist about propaganda design and how to enhance propaganda design into a fresher look. The purpose is to experiment the attractiveness of the illustrations to an effective way of propaganda design.
